live to the white house for that. also, as the city grieves over an nfl player's tragic breaking point, new debates today about gun control and domestic violence. you'll hear both. but first, the u.s. has long believed syria has a huge stockpile of chemical weapons. now new concerns that chemical arsenal is on the move. secretary of state hillary clinton today issuing another stern warning against syria, using these weapons. the syrian foreign ministry quick to respond here saying it would not use chemical weapons against its people if it had any, but this announcement as turkey is sending warplanes to its border with syria after the syrian military bombed a nearby town of ras al-ain. you can hear that and see the smoke. this is the turkish side of the border. this is fueling more fears that more of syria's violence will spill into its neighbor to the north, being turkey. security concerns are prompting the u.n. to announce it is pulling nonessential personnel out of syria. want to bring in fran townsend, our cnn national security contributor and member of the cia external advisory com

highways are very slow. the county and city work crews are out in force salting and plowing. and generally on the main thoroughfa thoroughfare, it is moving slowly. and as the conditions get worse as we see the heavy winds pick up, 35 to 45 miles an hour, start to dry out some of the moisture from the snow, you could end up with heavy icing conditions and the kind of conditions you're talking about where somebody could get stranded and possibly even have life threatened. so everybody in wisconsin, the national guard's playing a part, but we're certainly in partnership with the first responder communities and the state patrol, department of natural resources. >> oh, major general donald dunbar, thank you for talking with us and the best of luck with all of your efforts. if you're in wisconsin, if you go out in your car, put an emergency kit in your car. include a candle. it can save your life. a candle can warm your car and mean the difference between life and death. and i want to turn now to another very big story we've been following, it's the fallout over that scathing report on the atta

for children, a city, a country at war with itself. what kind of things are these little girls seeing beyond the school gates? >> translator: we as educators don't support one side or the other. our concern is for the child to learn. so we keep the school open and help with their fears. we can't do as much as before, but the key thing is to try to deal with their anxiety. >> reporter: up, down, left, right, two, three, four. out in the playground it's a p-e lesson. exercises including running to the wall, touching it and running back. here, the running's for fun, but beyond the school walls, a shell or mortar can land anywhere any time, running could be a matter of life and death. for obvious reasons the killing of small children and teachers in and around school buildings is pretty near the top of the news agenda at the moment. so it is in this educational district and the one next door alone in the past two weeks, 35 small children and two teach verse been killed. the security building next to the school was car bombed recently, leaving a staff candid about the problems they face here. >>

are in other cities are processing this, are going through this, and they need for us to reach out to them so the first and most important thing you can do stog find out what it is that they know about this trauma, what it is that they are thinking about, what it is that they would like to know, and then begin your discussion there instead of going into a straight dialogue or preaching to them as to what has happened and the evils of guns and so on. they may not be there yet. so be where they are, and begin that conversation with them. and secondly, and most importantly, it's not one conversation, don. you and i have talked about this before. it really is a series of conversations and it's not that you sit here and i'll sit there and let's talk, but it's about doing other activities, cooking with your kids, exercising with your kids, playing with your kids. and then bringing up these series of conversations and making sure it's interactional where they're doing a lot of the talking, you're doing a lot of the listening, but being honest with them and letting them know that this is something ve
